Village of Vernon Newsletter

Dear Village Residents,

The leaves are falling and soon the snow will be. Our D.P.W. has started leaf pick up and will continue until November 16th. Please be considerate by keeping leaves and brush separate. They can't vacuum up the brush. Also, for every ones safety please keep piles of leaves out of the road. Plowing and salting will begin as soon as we need to. So
Remember, parking is not permitted on any village streets between 1:00 A.M. and 6:00 A.M. starting December 1st till April 15th.Thanks for your cooperation and sorry for any inconvenience. The Halloween Party is Saturday October 27th from 7:00 till 8:30 P.M. at the Vernon Fire Department. Halloween is Wednesday October 31st so please keep this in mind coming home that evening, as ghost and goblins will invade us. Drive slowly as the safety of our children is our priority. We are also planning a tree lighting ceremony at the Village Park on December 1st.We will post more info on our village web site when we work out more details. Make sure you check out our website periodically as we are putting news and messages on it all the time. It is www.villageofvernonny.com. I would also like to thank the residents of Van Epps, Front and Black Trac for their patience during the construction. You guys were just awesome and I am sorry it took up your whole summer. Good news on the economic front JH Rhodes has bought The Oneida Container building on Ward St. bringing some nice paying jobs to the village. Also, Hood is expanding and has added jobs with the possibility for more jobs in the future. I would like to welcome HR Rhodes for choosing Vernon and Hood for staying and growing in Vernon. Village Meetings are schedule for the 3rd Monday of the month at 7:30 and we encourage all to attend. Check our event calendar for changes in meeting days or upcoming events. In closing, I would like to wish everyone a safe and Happy Holiday!
Your Mayor,
Gerald Seymour Jr.
